FAQ

  • IS READING INTERVENTION ONLY FOR STUDENTS WITH DYSLEXIA?
Not at all! Some students come to us because they have a diagnosed learning disorder, while others simply need more systematic, directed practice with reading and writing. According to the Canadian Children's Literacy Foundation, approximately 25% of grade 3 students in Canada are not reading at grade level. This can be addressed; we provide the right supports to help all students become successful readers and writers. If you suspect that your child is not yet reading or writing at grade level, contact us and we can schedule a 30-minute formative assessment. Based on the student's results, we will make recommendations.
  • WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?
We offer three-month packages of individualized 50-minute lessons at a rate of $80 per session. While we recommend two lessons per week to maximize the benefits of the Orton-Gillingham method, we can work together to create a schedule that best fits your needs. For new clients, we offer a one-time, 30-minute formative assessment. During this session, Amanda will work with the student to evaluate their skills and needs. She will then analyze the results and develop tailored recommendations for a program plan. The findings and proposed plan will be shared with you in a follow-up meeting a few days later. The cost for this assessment is $100. Please note that this is not a diagnostic evaluation. All payments are due at the time of booking or prior to the start of services and can be made via e-transfer.
  • ARE YOU A TUTORING AGENCY?
Leap Learning is not a traditional tutoring agency. Each student's intake assessment becomes a starting point for their unique learning plan. We specialize in literacy intervention and remediation. Our main focus is online learning, however, we do have limited daytime availability for in-person sessions.
  • WHAT TECHNOLOGY IS REQUIRED FOR ONLINE LEARNING?
Online lessons will take place over Zoom. A secure link will be sent to you prior to your first session. The student will need an internet connected device with microphone, speaker, and camera enabled. See Zoom system requirements here. They will need a notebook to write in, and a quiet space with minimal interruptions. They should be comfortably seated with enough space for their device as well as their writing notebook. Also helpful is a small white board with marker and eraser.
  • WHAT IS YOUR CANCELATION POLICY?
We ask our students to provide 24 hours notice to reschedule a class. Notice provided less than 24 hours in advance will result in cancellation without rescheduling or reimbursement. If we have to cancel, Leap Learning will rebook at your convenience, or else a refund will be issued.
